Super Hard Kick's
If you're looking for bigger, harder and fatter Bass Drum Kicks , you can't
beat a program called STOMPER.
It is a simple soft drum synth that produces some of the best kicks sounds I've heard, a VST version is coming but for now you can stream any sounds to a WAV and use them in the Drum sequencer.
Respected UK artists Way Out West use the program too, so it can't be bad!
Get it here www.master-zap.com/stomper/
Let me know what you think,it knocks spots off the XR-909!!

while stomper is cool and all, to get REALLY phat kicks without the "dew dew" of stomper- or the flaccid wussiness of a 909 a la the tomcat or 909: I suggest using a synth like the wasp or junglist (better) using a TINY bit of tuned oscillator, but mostly self-oscillating filter (the resonance is cranked up and the cutoff is rolled back to like 9oClock...) and playing the with filter envelope amount and the actual filter ADSR envelope to get a nice punchy full-on kick that you can render to a wav and load into a sampler. In Other Words= synthesized kicks are best done with self-oscillating filters.

Stomper is an excellent program. It has just about every sound you can imagine! The posibilities are endless. I do suggest the program to anyone who wants some really good sounds.

V5 of stomper is actually quite nice ... I used an older version awhile back and really like the new interface ... its not that new but definately nicer ... still makes all the great sounds as usual.

I used this also, hehe I used a Chemical Style Bass Drum from Stomper in my very first song. I have to look at it again.

Wow, there's a prog I haven't heard mentioned in a couple years! I remember testing out the beta versions... Antiloop's testimonial is the reason I got hooked on "In My Mind" :)

I use samples from Stomper a lot, and have to agree that u can get some nice phat kicks and I have made some good snare sounds with it also........I use Tomcat a lot also, but more for filter sweeping percussive sounds

STOMPER was actually built-in to Ensoniq's ASR-X Pro [the hideous red version]. I haven't used it for a while but i can't imagine it being easier or more useful than TOMCAT.

Tip of the moment
To improve system performance use the "CFG" button [on the Toolbar] to reduce each generator's polyphony to the minimum needed. Remember that a stereo generator will need double the polyphony so only use stereo mode when you really need it. more »
